Course Overview

This groundbreaking virtual course is the first of its kind, designed to equip radiographers and radiologists with the essential skills and knowledge to establish and deliver post-mortem CT (PMCT) imaging. Developed by global experts, this holistic training addresses both the technical, practical and emotional challenges of PMCT imaging.

Featuring Ichabodies Death Dummies™, the course delivers a realistic virtual experience, ensuring participants gain practical insights without unnecessary distress. Core learning objectives include guidance on scanning protocols, deceased body handling, and information for staff well-being and support.

Please note that post-mortem CT imaging interpretation is outside the scope of this course.

This course is worth 6 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD scheme of the Royal College of Radiologists.

Learning Objectives

Having graduated with an MSc in Forensic Medical Sciences prior to her medical degree, Reena always had an interest in the forensic field and wanted to pursue this in her future career. Training as a radiologist at Barts and The Royal London Hospitals, she now works as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Radiologist at London North West University Hospital Trust and forms part of the core Anubix Team.

 Professor Richard Byers is Manchester Academic Health Science Centre Professor of Pathology at the University of Manchester and consultant histopathologist at Manchester University Hospital and Tameside General Hospital. He specialises in haematopathology at Manchester University Hospital and provides autopsy service for Tameside General Hospital, a busy mixed service for the South Manchester Coroner.

Dr. Mark Viner has over 40 years’ experience as radiographer and radiology manager in London hospitals. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Forensic Radiography at Cranfield University Forensic Institute and Senior Tutor in radiography at Barts and The Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He is a founder board member of both the International Association of Forensic Radiographers (IAFR) and the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (ISFRI) and a founder editorial board member of the Journal of Forensic Imaging.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) Officer

With over 45 years of experience of working in Healthcare, DEI has been at the heart of Lindsays’ working life and lies at the centre of her clinical practice as a radiographer and previous Safeguarding Adults and LD Lead. Health Inequalities are ever present and the legalities of the Equality Act 2010 have to be applied in our work at all levels, for example fair access and reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities. She has years of experience in DEI and for 7 years Chaired the LGBTQ+ forum at Kings College Hospital London, one notable achievement was to complete the Stonewall Index and raise the profile of the Trust. She has led and been part of DEI in many high profile clinics, being a point of contact for advice and networking.

Funeral and Complex Body Specialist/The Ichabodies- Death Dummies™ Creator & Collaborator

Angie McLachlan has over 30 years of experience on death care and provides resources guidance and care of the body training to specialist organisations, and individuals. She is a member of the British Institute of Embalmers and was recognised in 2015 for her funeral work as one of five finalists in the ‘Major Contribution to the Understanding of Death’ by the Good Funeral Awards. She holds a BA (Hons) in Death Loss and Palliative Care, and an MA (with Distinction) in Religion: The Rhetoric and Rituals of Death from the University of Winchester
